"Sorry, not tonight. I've got a date."
Junpei's face was sour. "Big surprise, Takuya.. I don't remember the last time we got together on a Saturday night."
Takuya shrugged. "I didn't think it was that big a deal." The brunette shouldered his backpack and dug his railcard out of his pocket. "We'll do something tomorrow, okay?"
"Sure." Junpei's voice didn't reveal his disappointment at being stuck at home alone for another night. He wasn't much of a socialist naturally, but having his best friend out on dates on every weekend night was difficult for him. Takuya was Junpei's closest friend and really the only one he spent any amount of time with.
The young teen didn't want to admit that he was lonely, but he was a little jealous of Takuya and his girlfriend. No girl that he knew of had ever had a crush on him before, but they were throwing themselves all of over Takuya.
"See ya!" Takuya boarded the train and waved to Junpei.
"Bye." Junpei sighed and turned away before leaving the station. I guess I'll just go home and watch TV. He hated being home alone, but it happened so often lately that he didn't have much choice but to accept it.
The apartment was empty; the door was locked. There was a note from his mother instructing him to fix himself dinner without making a mess of the kitchen, and a packet of instant ramen on the table. Junpei opted to snack on one of the chocolate bars he usually carried around.
The brunette slumped on the couch and absentmindedly flipped through TV channels, trying to find something moderately interesting. Game shows, anime, documentaries, dramas...on another day any of these types might have appealed to him, but Junpei was far from interested in seeing people who at the moment seemed much better off than himself.
He listlessly moved from the couch to the computer desk, intending to check his e-mail and surf the Internet. He wasn't much of a computer person, but he often liked to surf and go in the occasional chat.
He opened up his e-mail account and found, as usual, a dozen or so e-mails.

Junpei uncertainly clicked the link, unsure whether or not Takuya (who had a weird sense of humor sometimes) would lead him to some hentai site.
The website, however, did seem to be a perfectly harmless Java chat. Junpei pondered what to use as a screenname, deciding against both his real name and the ‘ikazuchi’ portion of his e-mail--although he was not shy, he was cautious as to how much information he would reveal to strangers. Feeling a little resentful of his best friend for abandoning him that night, Junpei entered a screenname that Takuya often used.

Junpei hesitated at this. He shouldn't be telling someone he just met these
kinds of lies.
I'm just borrowing Takuya's achievements for a while.it won't hurt anyone.
If she knew what I was really like, she'd never talk to me!
Besides, Takuya isn't the only one who can do great things. If I had a
chance I could be just as good as him.

Junpei sat idly at his computer for another few moments before bookmarking the webpage and leaving the room. That was the first time...a girl's ever talked to me so frankly.
He was smiling so hard that his face hurt. I'll show Takuya that I can be just as smooth as him when talking to girls.
And I'll be twice as smooth when I tell him...I've got a date tomorrow!
