...after 24 hours of NOT actively writing a kensuke fic...I went into withdrawl and restarted this one. Sorry, taito-shippers.
then, I stopped using capital letters. something's very wrong here.
memory loss *any ideas for a better title, or what?*

A/N: I forgot how memory lapse went (hey, you try writing 120 fics and remembering every detail!) so I'm branching a bit with this one--which is good. it's an alternate story, yes-no?
"Damn."
Daisuke's first thought was a relieved Oh God, I'm alive.
He opened his eyes and glared at the dusky sky, wishing feverently that he didn't hurt so much. His entire body hurt--most prominently his ankle, which didn't seem to want to move and was constantly twinging with pain.
Mustering what strength he had left, Daisuke sat up and looked around. Trees, rocks, cliff, unconscious emperor..."Oh, shit. Ken? Um, are you alive?"
Receiving no answer from the Digital Kaiser, Daiuke crawled on his hands and knees to the other boy's side. "Ken? Ken?" The inky-haired boy had a weak but steady pulse, which was reassuring to Daisuke, but still wouldn't wake up, which was not. "Damn. I couldn't get charged for murder if I left him here, could I?" Still, the Child of Friendship inside Daisuke rebelled at such a thought. The Kaiser--no, Ken was hurt, and could be dying of some internal injuries or something, and could be eaten by a stray Virus Digimon if Daisuke abandoned him. The boy sighed. "All right...I'll take care of you, at least until you wake up and decide you want to kill me. Got it?"
Not bothering to wait for an acknowledgement that he knew wouldn't come, Daisuke attepted to struggle to his feet, and failed. He'd landed pretty hard on his right ankle, and it would no longer support his weight. "Wonderful. Just wonderful. I'm trapped in the Digital World with a comatose homicidal maniac, and I can't walk. Isn't this just great?" The mahogany-haired boy called upon the First Aid courses he had been taught in forth grade and began looking for a suitable walking stick. He crawled over to Ken's other side and noticed the gash on the side of the Kaiser's head. "Ohhhh damn. That's gotta hurt." Sighing, Daisuke tore off a peice of his t-shirt and wrapped it around the other boy's head in an attempt to staunch the blood flowing out of it. Ken still made no move, just breathed an short gasps, his face white.
After a few moments Daisuke spotted a good-sized stick and simultaneously found a small cave within seeing distance of the fallen Kaiser. He knelt, gently put his arms around the despot's waist and dragged him, boots scraping against the dirt, into the dark recess. By the time he got the Kaiser into the cave Daisuke's knees were scratched and bloody from the trip, but Ken's condition hadn't changed. Which, Daisuke reflected, might or might not have been a good thing.
Once inside Daisuke made a pillow of leaves and draped his bomber jacket over the Kaiser's still form, marveling at how innocent Ken looked when the slept. Certainly not like an enslaver of Digimon. Daisuke looked fondly upon Ken's still face, remembering when he had practically worshipped the Tamachi boy as a genius, star soccer player, and attractive boy. There had been a time when Daisuke might have had a crush on Ken if he dared admit it, back before he knew the indigo-eyed athlete was in fact the Digital Kaiser. Daisuke had been rather resentful when he'd found out, especially since Ken had been the only object of his romantic fantasies until then.
Without so much as a sound the young Kaiser stirred, and slowly opened his eyes. Daisuke was unsure of how to greet him. "Um...good morning..."
The Kaiser blinked, his violet eyes clouded with confusion. "Uh..."
The two of them just stared at each other for a moment, Daisuke waiting for some witty remark by Ken, and the latter searching his rescuer's face for...what?
"Ken? Are you okay?" Daisuke asked worriedly, when the insult didn't come.
A spark of confusion crossed the Kaiser's face. "...Ken? Who's that?"
