Hey look, an update!
Posted by Shadow on 2004-03-07

And look, actual content too! Dark Flame submitted a rant. It's up on the latest rants page. Read it while it's mildly warm.

Uh, sorry!

I was ready to upload everything last monday, but couldn't find the note card I had written the FTP information on. So I told myself, "I'll look for it tomorrow." Well... I kind of forgot about it. But, almost everything is up right now. I still have to do a site map and a tutorial for Jazz on updating. The cookie system is still undone. This last week has been sheer laziness.

Again, sorry.

Welcome to the all new* Madhouse Press!

If you haven't noticed anything different, you need glasses! Seriously, though, tonight, I am proud to present the new Madhouse Press website! If you've tracked my progress in the forums, be at peace! My bitching and moaning has passed. I've worked out as many kinks I could find while testing it. I've updated just about everything to the new layout system. I've also reworked the directory systems.

This is coming a few days later than I would have liked, but I was working on some code for URL-code retainers and the colorset system Thursday night/Friday morning, and I've just been really tired/lazy since then.

What does this mean for Madhouse Press?

It means that we're running more space-efficiently. Instead of having to have the HTML header with the link images along the sides being posted on every page, I've used one file to replace them. Also, it means that updating won't be as hard as Jazz makes it out to be.

Also, sooner or later, I'm going to implement a colorset system that untilize browser cookies to tell my engine which colors you want on the pages, instead of having to rely on the URL-defined variable I was first going to go with. If you want, you can create your own layout colors, and if we like them, we'll add them. Real spiffy. I would have said "I would have had a color system in this initial release, but for some reason, I couldn't get it all to work, so I canceled it.", but I found my bug, did some work, and It's almost here. Just a little more time is needed. It's on my list.

I've added a Publication list. This shows all of the current publications that we've added to date, organized by submission type. I hope to keep it as updated as possible.

What does this mean for you?

To be honest, I don't know exactly. I can guarantee that with me around, updates will be more bountiful as needed. I can already say that if there's something that doesn't work, email me, and I'll get on it as soon as I can. (This includes dead links, too.)

Overall, I want to make Madhouse Press a true art community outside of just a bulletin board! So if you have any suggestions, comments, complaints, problems, and so on, I'm all ears.

Conclusion

All I really want to say in my conclusion is my thanks. Since not too many of you have gathered to give me their thoughts on my little endeavor, there aren't that many thanks.

Thanks go to Jazz for allowing me to make a new layout for the site (which turned into a labor of efficiency that I loved through the agrevation). This has been ShadowRune Studios's first job. And though I'm doing it as a favor, it was worth it. I plan to stick around a little while, make sure things are real spiffy.

Thanks goes to DarkFlame for telling me someone still actually uses an 800x600 screen resolution. It actually looks better, in my opinion. You'll soon have your bright colors, while I retain my dark colors, and Jazz has his neutral greys.
